For the time being she was happily content, and the ghost of a weary smile passed over her face. As for Jim, his customary half humorous grin melted away at the sight of her grievously altered appearance. The greeting he had thought to give her was not spoken. He shifted uneasily on his feet and a genuine look of sorrow.
