Mathews had reported the "Yaruma", a traditional belief from the south-east corner of New South Wales. On the north coast (W.J. Enright, 'Mankind', June 1937), the creature was the "Jarra-Wahu" or "Yerri-Wahoo", and around Mudgee and Maitland the "Yahu".
